Many guitarists and collectors expected PRS to produce Gibson-esque editions, but with PRS quality; many wanted a bridge design not as one piece, but as two, like Gibsons - tune-o-matic. PRS previously released the SC58 model, which became the first model with a 2-piece bridge. The new model features the same 2-piece bridge (a la tune-o-matic) as on the SC58, but with a scale length of 24.594", as on the MC594 model, which, by the way, was also introduced slightly earlier in mid-2016. The first SC594 was introduced at the beginning of December 2016 in the Private Stock Guitar Of The Month November edition, however, it had different wood specifications and, of course, price. The PRS SC 594 is primarily focused on a vintage sound with a modern look and high-end details; this PRS certainly has its own updated sound, but primarily it is oriented towards people who love the vintage old sound of the 50s, only without the hum, woody feel in comfort, etc. It is the old sound wrapped like candy in the best wood, best tops, hardware, etc. It immediately becomes familiar in your hands with a recognizable sound. Moreover, the guitar has coil-taps for single-coil (push-pull on the tone), 2 volume and 2 tone controls like on an LP, as well as a 3-way toggle switch on the upper bout. Truly a masterful and versatile guitar, and also beautiful and comfortable. What is so new about it? I will name at least 10 of the most important factors that distinguish it from other models: 1) 24.594” scale length - something between the SC and the 25-inch PRS scale, still comfortable. 2) 58/15 LT pickups. LT means low turns, which gives the guitar a soft, transparent tone. 3) 2 tone + 2 volume controls provide maximum convenience for controlling the volume and tone of the two pickups separately. 4) Relocated to the top (like on an LP) 3-way toggle switch - for those used to the LP switch on the top. 5) Push-pull on the tone - creates coil-taps for single-coils from the humbuckers, which makes the guitar very versatile in sound. 6) New neck profile Pattern Vintage neck carve, has the same width as Pattern Regular, but is thicker from front to back, it is asymmetrically designed - less massive on the thin string side, meatier on the bass side. The instrument follows the shape of the palm, so it immediately fits in the hands. This is the most comfortable neck today that I have touched, a neck "with balls"! Dozens of guitars sold with this neck confirm the fact that even if you are used to thin necks, this one fits in the hand perfectly!
