The PRS CE24 Bolt-On series is a sort of price-quality compromise in the $2500-$3000 budget range. At this price point, it is now becoming increasingly difficult to find an instrument made in the USA that costs this much, while being of high quality, with good wood (not laminate) and quality hardware and pickups. For comparison, the Core (the main American line) starts from $4000. The CE24 is produced in the same workshop as the Custom 24 Core model! So what are the differences between the CE24 and the Custom 24 (Core Model)? - The CE24 has less milling on the top wood, under the knobs and the backplate (like the S2 and all PRS bolt-on series) - The CE24 hardware is slightly lower level than Core, but better than S2, because of this it is not expensive, but holds tuning well (for comparison, one bridge or set of tuners for Core guitars costs $300) - The CE24 comes with a gigbag instead of a hard case, but it is a very high quality one - The CE24 neck is always made of maple (not mahogany) and specifically three pieces (headstock, center, heel), which reduces production costs If you are not ready to overpay for the frills of Core Models and your budget is limited, and you want a good American PRS - the PRS CE24 is the perfect solution! And now more details about the model itself... A very beautiful and recognizable color - Fire Red Burst! This is one of the first PRS series - CE (Classic Electric) - it was available since 1988 and was produced until the mid-2000s, but its production was later stopped (at that time they had half-moons in 95% of cases). In 2016, at the NAMM show, it was brought back and presented in a new light. Now it does not have 22 and 24 options, currently it only has 24 frets and tremolo, however, the guitar is equipped with the same pickups as the PRS Custom 24 (85/15), which costs twice as much, the wood is essentially the same, but the neck is maple, the rest is the same: rosewood fretboard, mahogany body with a maple top, but the neck joint is bolt-on and it is a thin Pattern Thin, and the electronics are standard, like on the Customs - volume, push/pull on the tone for single-coil splitting, and a 3-way toggle. From 2021, PRS changed the painting. Now the finish is in Nitro! This allows the wood to breathe more and the guitar to sound better. Considering the price tag for a new guitar - it is simply ideal in this segment, slightly more expensive than the cheaper S2s with Korean hardware, but it is already a true American with bird inlays. I would add from myself that unlike the old budget PRS CE of that time (not to be confused with SE) - this is already an expensive American instrument, close in sound and appearance to the classic custom.
