Many guitarists and collectors expected Gibson-style editions from PRS, but with PRS quality; many wanted a bridge design that was not just one part, but two, like on Gibsons - tune-o-matic. PRS previously released the SC58 model - which became the first model with a 2-piece bridge. The new model features the same 2-piece bridge (a-la tune-o-matic) as on the SC58, but with a 24.594 scale length, as on the MC594 model, which, by the way, was also introduced slightly earlier in mid-2016. The first SC594 was introduced at the beginning of December 2016 in the Private Stock Guitar Of The Month November edition, however, it had different wood specifications and, of course, a different price. The PRS SC 594 is primarily focused on a vintage sound with a modern appearance and high-end details; this PRS certainly has its own updated sound, but primarily it is aimed at people who love the vintage old sound of the 50s, only without hum, woodenness in convenience, etc. It is the old sound wrapped like a candy in the best wood, the best tops, hardware, etc. It immediately becomes familiar in your hands with a recognizable sound. Moreover, the guitar has coil splits for single-coils (push-pull on the tone), 2 volumes and 2 tones like on an LP, as well as a 3-way toggle switch on the upper bout. Truly a masterful and versatile guitar, and also beautiful and comfortable. What is so new about it? I will name at least 10 most important factors of difference from other models: 1) 24.594” scale length - something between an SC and a 25-inch PRS scale, still as comfortable. 2) 58/15 LT pickups. LT means Low Turn, which gives the guitar a soft, transparent tone. 3) 2 tone + 2 volume controls provide maximum convenience for adjusting the volume and tone of the two pickups separately. 4) Relocated 3-way toggle switch to the upper bout (as on an LP) - for those who are used to the LP switch on top. 5) Push-pull on tone - makes coil splits for single-coils from humbuckers, which makes the guitar very versatile in sound. 6) New Pattern Vintage neck carve profile, has the same width as Pattern Regular, but is thicker from front to back, it is asymmetrically designed - less massive on the thin string side, more meaty on the bass side. The instrument follows the shape of the palm, so it immediately fits into your hands. This is the most comfortable neck today that I have touched, a neck "with balls"! Dozens of sold guitars with this neck confirm the fact that even if you are used to thin necks, this one fits perfectly in the hand!
