2020 PRS McCarty 594 Wood Library Artist Package Flame Top Satin River Blue Brazilian Rosewood Hand Selected Korina NEW The guitar is new, from old stock, the last year of Artist Package options with select wood for the top. Includes all documentation, artist case, adjustment tools. The PRS Wood Library series guitar means the wood is hand-selected from a separate warehouse, better than serial instruments. Even more attention to detail, Brazilian Rosewood fretboard options, more colors (this is River Blue) and of course Artist Grade Top, which is more beautiful than a 10-top. Lightweight Korina on the body and neck provides very cool resonance and dryness of sound, dense lows due to the Pattern Vintage neck (the most comfortable neck of all existing, as for me) and velvetiness due to the Brazilian Rosewood fretboard - all this makes the already wonderful PRS a pinnacle of guitar building. Wood Library guitars always have special overtones and sound that cannot be found on serial PRSs, but they also cost more. The Brazilian Rosewood fretboard provides juicy overtones and velvetiness. It is currently impossible to even order a Private Stock with such a fretboard, firstly because the certified Brazilian Rosewood wood has long run out in the stocks of even large global suppliers, because its logging was banned in 1992, now CITES restricts the export of even certified wood on new guitars, and one has to wait for a lot of export permits. Even when rosewood is available, dealers are in a hurry to order at least something from the factory, if only to get such a coveted Brazilian Rosewood fretboard. For the last 4 years, international dealers have not been able to get it even on order... therefore one has to buy from the Americans. Regarding the MC594 model, this model first appeared in the monthly release of PRS Private Stock 20th Anniversary Guitar of The Month - the PRS Private Stock McCarty 594 was the February release, all released guitars were sold in a day. A little later, PRS decided to add the PRS McCarty 594 model to its model range as a serial one, however, in the lineup, it turned out to be almost the most expensive model to date, however, it is worth it. PRS McCarty 594 - is primarily focused on vintage sound, vintage appearance, if you want modern, then look at other PRS models, yes, this PRS certainly has its updated sound, but primarily it is focused on people who love the vintage old sound of the 50s, only without hum, woodiness in convenience, etc. It is the old sound wrapped like a candy in the best wood, the best tops, hardware, etc. It immediately becomes familiar in the hands with a recognizable sound. Moreover, the guitar has coil-taps for single-coils (push-pull on tone), 2 volume and 2 tone controls like on an LP, as well as a 3-way toggle switch on the upper bout. A truly masterful and universal guitar, and also beautiful and comfortable. What is so new about it? I will name at least 10 most important factors distinguishing it from other models: 1) Scale length 24.594” - something average between SC and the 25-inch PRS scale, still just as comfortable. 2) 58/15 LT pickups. LT means low turns, which gives the guitar a soft, transparent tone. 3) 2 tone + 2 volume controls give maximum convenience of adjusting the volume and tone of two pickups separately. 4) 3-way toggle switch moved to the upper bout (like on an LP) - for those who are used to the LP switch at the top but want a superstrat-shaped guitar. 5) Push-pull on tone - makes coil-taps for single-coils from humbuckers, which makes the guitar very universal in sound. 6) New neck profile Pattern Vintage neck carve, has the same width as Pattern Regular, but is thicker from front to back, it is asymmetrically designed - less massive on the thin string side, more meaty on the bass side. By feel, this is the thickest PRS neck to date, and also, as a quite logical consequence, this neck has the greatest sustain. You won't be able to do shredding on this guitar, but to extract fat notes... that's exactly what it's for. As a fan of thick necks, I declare it one of my favorites to date! It really is a neck "with balls"! 7) Updated Phase III Locking tuners - namely, bolts have been added to adjust the tuner travel, their "sliding". 8) Tune-O-Matic (TOM) + Bridge - like on LP and SC58. 9) Binding on the neck (white piping). 10) A new color palette has been added, now even more beautiful colors are available. The sustain is just insane! When split on clean, one can achieve aggressive attack, the most beautiful funky strumming will not leave anyone indifferent! Both pickups have no muddiness, they have "balls", especially they manifest themselves when playing into Mesa Boogie amplifiers. Together with these monsters, these guitars reveal themselves completely in all spectra. Rock-wise, the guitar also sounds through a Marshall AFD100. At least I played through these two amplifiers and each one revealed the guitar in its own interesting way, which means it has its own charm. In general, 58/15s are the most transparent and collected pickups from PRS to date, they can only be compared with 57/08 and 59/09, but 58/15s are still more transparent. The switch on the upper bout is very convenient for me, and I also like the coil-taps of humbuckers to single-coils, 2 volume and tone knobs, this saves a lot at concerts if the amplifier is 1-channel. Turned down the neck volume - and you already have a clean sound, clicked down to the bridge - overdrive. And of course, access to the high frets is as always very comfortable.
