2003 Fender Custom Shop ‘65 Stratocaster 1965 NOS 3-Tone Sunburst Custom Shop Strat from Fender’s Time Machine series. This series consists of vintage 50s-60s Strats reissued down to every last screw. I decided to start with the 1965 reissue, as it was a turning point for the Fender company and the last one before the sale to CBS. We have a Pre-CBS Era Stratocaster - the most desired and beloved by guitarists and collectors. The guitar’s sound is incredibly soft and velvety. This is the first time in my 5 years of experience that I have heard a Strat sound like this. If everyone is used to the biting Strat sound with insane glassiness, which, by the way, not everyone likes or finds suitable, then here everything sounds more velvety. Moreover, the guitar sounds rounded and soft both on the neck pickup and on the bridge and middle pickups with moderate glassiness and attack, thanks to which the low end is simply stunning. It has incredible sustain from the body to the neck, as if the neck were set, not bolted. In the days of the ‘65 Strat, there was a 3-position switch; for our times, this is unusual for a Strat, so the first owner installed a 5-position switch in the USA through authorized dealers (I can put the original 3-position switch back if anyone needs it, but I believe the guitar sounds more versatile and reveals its full potential). Also, the plastic covers were replaced with slightly creamier ones, which gave the guitar a more vintage look; I can also put the original plastic back - all original parts are present, but IMHO, this way everything is better and more versatile! The condition of the guitar is very good, no brutal marks or anything else, the frets are also in excellent condition.
