The process of creating the Silver Sky took over two and a half years - this instrument is the result of the well-known strat style combined with PRS quality and beauty. This model was based on Mayer and Smith's favorite elements from vintage 1963 and 1964 instruments, resulting in an idealized version of a vintage single-coil guitar. The attention paid to every detail sets this guitar apart from all others. Some of the most distinctive features include the headstock shape, tuners, neck, bridge, pickups, and electronics. The guitar headstock is based on the PRS trademark design but is inverted, characterizing Mayer's playing style and maintaining consistent string length near the nut, which simplifies tuning.
