1994 PRS Artist Series II Limited Edition Indigo Faded Blue Jean Essentially this is a Pre Private Stock at the First Factory, or what is also called a Pre Factory limited collector's Paul Reed Smith. In those years, just like the first Gibsons, every instrument had its own character and distinct sound; one could take two identical 94 or 95 models and even with the same pickups, they would sound different. Nowadays, PRS production is set up perfectly and identical models sound absolutely identical in a cool way. This is neither bad nor good, it is just that the guitars made at the first factory are more rare and individual, especially this model, which was produced in a limited run of about 300 guitars. These guitars were made for the top dealers or famous musicians. Unfortunately, PRS themselves cannot provide more info than what is stated on their site, namely: ARTIST SERIES II: 1993 - 1996. So, this model is made of: Body - select American mahogany Top - select flame maple 10 Top grade Neck - select American mahogany Fretboard - rosewood Pickups - Artist Bass & Treble In essence, this is a pre-factory Custom 22 with tremolo and rare unique pickups, rare headstock and neck finishing + rosewood fretboard. The guitar's sound is unique; it is similar to my previous customs from the 94-96 period, but this one has a more velvety low end even in the bridge position. In general, I really enjoyed switching through all 5 sound positions - the sound is velvety, expensive, enveloping; it is audible even on an unplugged guitar, it has its own overtone. Alas, there are no such pickups in other editions, but this adds uniqueness to an already cool instrument! The guitar is far from perfect condition, but due to the spotted coloring, the flaws are not very visible. There are dings across the body and neck, some touched up, small chips, cracks in the lacquer, but overall there are no structural breaks, only cosmetic issues. This is an ideal option for a musician who needs an instrument with character, exclusivity, a great sound, not too expensive and collectible, so that it would not be a shame to ding it somewhere on another tour. Everything on the guitar is original except for the tuners; the original Schaller tuners started holding tuning poorly and were replaced in America with gold-plated locking Sperzel tuners. The electronics work completely, the tone sounds very cool even if dialed to 0 - Santana style; the volume and the 5-position rotary pickup switch also work perfectly. The guitar comes with a tremolo arm and a case. The color is stunning, spotted Faded Blue Jean, as if dark blue denim transitions into a lighter blue at the top, with a gorgeous small-stripe flame top.
