1997 G&L S-500 Blue Burst (made in USA) G&L Guitars is the last and best (in his own words) guitar brand of Leo Fender, which he created after leaving Fender and finishing work with Music Man. Again, in his words, these are the most perfect guitars he ever made; they took the best from Fender and Music Man and went even further. Even their Indonesian 'G&L Tribute' instruments cost 500-800 dollars, and the American G&L (like this S500) are still made at the former Fender factory in the city of Fullerton, California, (where the best Fenders of their time were made) and where true traditions of quality guitar building still live and develop to this day. In essence, every G&L instrument is a custom shop; the instruments are made in small batches, with simply colossal attention to detail, materials, assembly, and paintwork. Because of this, every one of their instruments is truly unique, and both sounds and feels in the hands as a true custom instrument should. This instrument is a pure-blooded American G&L S-500, a more advanced strat from G&L that received three rather hot pickups but with a vintage character, very wide and thick in sound (thanks to large magnets and patented technology), a mini-toggle switch that adds the neck pickup to any chosen combination (resulting in a total of EIGHT pickup combinations), a solid ash body, and a maple neck with a rosewood fretboard. And of course, the cast G&L tremolo, a very significant (among others) advantage of G&L guitars over Fender.
