2017 PRS Custom 24 Swamp Ash Vintage Natural Limited Run NEW Brand new PRS Custom 24 straight from the factory. However, this is not a regular custom, but a unique edition; specifically, only one guitar with these specifications in this color was made, aka PRS Wood Library - One Off. This particular guitar is packed with the following options: body made of select figured Swamp Ash, neck made of Figured Flame Maple, Ebony fretboard, pickups that are no longer installed on serial PRS models - 57/08, artist grade birds, Hybrid hardware - a mix of nickel and gold plating, Paul Reed Smith logo made of mother-of-pearl, everything as on the Artist Package. Full specifications, as usual - 25-inch scale length, Pattern Thin neck, 24 frets, 57/08 pickups, 5-way switch, tone and volume controls, and of course, most importantly - GEN III TREMOLO. As before, the PRS tremolo holds tuning fantastically; the plus side is that the block, screws, and string contact points were left uncoated, which contributed to improved sustain and tonal accuracy. The guitar is very comfortable, like all PRS, but this custom is also lighter than mahogany ones, due to the fact that the body is made of lightweight swamp ash. The neck is matte, due to which the resonance of the guitar is just stunning, and it is also very comfortable. Ebony complements the wood combination well, adding attack to the sound. But perhaps the most important thing is the perfectly matched pickups - covered 57/08. These pickups give a certain vintage sound and were most often installed on singlecuts, so the lows and mids of the pickups perfectly complemented the highs of the ash, maple, and ebony, resulting in a golden mean. The neck sounds so clear, so transparent, there are no unpleasant overtones, unnecessary high frequencies, and clicks.... coil-splits give strat-like and tele-like glassiness, and the bridge gains perfectly on overdrive. Of course, I wouldn't say this guitar is for extreme heavy metal; I personally really liked the clean sound, and on all amplifiers, the crunch and vintage classic sound, rock.
