1983 Gibson Les Paul Custom An instrument that evokes a sea of emotions. This is a massive, heavy, and powerful 1983 Les Paul Custom (the guitar is 31 years old), but at the same time a very comfortable, even "virtuoso" instrument with everything you need. Let's start with the tremolo. This Les Paul Custom features an ORIGINAL American Kahler tremolo with a locking nut. An old, strong competitor to Floyd Rose, Kahler is much more frequently found on AMERICAN instruments and has a number of advantages over the Floyd (it is not for nothing that these tremolos now cost around $500): - the tuning returns perfectly even after the most hellish "dives," right down to completely slackening the strings; - unlike Floyd, Kahler gives COMPLETE freedom to adjust the saddles - in all directions, lower/higher, left/right - however you like; furthermore, the Kahler saddles are roller-type; - with Kahler, unlike Floyd, only the string mounting plate moves, while the entire body is mounted stationary on the body; the plate with strings moves much easier and smoother than a whole tremolo like the Floyd, and therefore the tremolo arm travel is much smoother and weightless; - one of the MAIN advantages - Kahler can be LOCKED and turned into a FIXED, stationary bridge (!!!!!!!), which for a Les Paul is a very big plus!; - string height adjustment is preserved - since in Kahler the saddles remain in place during tremolo movement, the string height remains the same during pulls or dives; - Kahler is a massive cast tremolo made of cast brass that is screwed tightly to the guitar body - which gives INCREDIBLE sustain! Next, the guitar is equipped with Gibson Dirty Fingers pickups with old covers (pickups that appeared in the 80s and immediately became a hit with Gibson fans); unlike the stock 490r/498t, these come with the possibility of coil-splitting each pickup separately using push/pull volume knobs. The knobs themselves are the original ones, just with more modern potentiometers installed underneath them - all genuine Gibson. Regarding wear - naturally, since the guitar is 31 years old, there is the expected level of wear from careful use, but to be honest - it is even much less than most 31-year-old guitars.
