The main difference from other PRS 408 guitars is the pickups, which were made to expand the tonal spectrum of the sound. They narrow down unwanted bass guitar frequencies that are unpleasant to the ear (as is well known, guitar frequencies are often cut during mastering) and expand the high-frequency tonal range, resulting in something between a narrowfield and a humbucker. Paul Reed Smith made these pickups before the serial production of guitars (before 1985) in the early 80s; they provide superb brightness, you can really hear acoustic notes as if there were a piezo. A very important point — the guitar provides 8 sounds — the mini-switches perform coil splits into single-coils WITHOUT LOSS OF VOLUME. This is simply amazing, as you do not need to turn up the volume during recording or a performance when switching the pickup from humbucker mode to single-coil mode. This guitar is a favorite of Paul Reed Smith himself; the first guitars with these pickups were made for artists Howard Leese, Davy Knowles, Michael Ault, Tom Wheeler.
