1973 Carvin AS50B Sunburst Vintage Hollowbody With Bigsby A rare and vintage guitar. One of the first guitars from the Carvin company!!! Back then, Carvin ordered their necks from the well-known German company Höfner. Karl Höfner GmbH & Co KG is a German enterprise, a manufacturer of plucked and bowed string instruments. The company was founded in 1887 by violin and guitar maker Karl Höfner in the town of Schönbach (today Luby in the Czech Republic). At the beginning of the XX century, the company became the largest manufacturer of string instruments in Europe and gained worldwide recognition. The body and electronics were made in the USA by Carvin. The body and sides are made of maple, and the top is a Spruce Top. It has a bolt-on maple neck with a rosewood fretboard. The guitar features the original aluminum bridge, Bigsby Vibrola, MOP pickguard, vintage metal Kluson tuners, and the original AP6 Black pickups. A master luthier in the USA performed maintenance on the instrument, so it is set up, and all electronics, knobs, etc., work like a clock!!! It is as if the guitar is new, although it is actually over 40 years old. The sound of those old pickups is considered one of the best in Carvin's entire history - they sound like something between a P90 and a Jazzmaster, which gives them exclusivity! Later, Hallmark Guitars (Bob Shade) made a very limited edition of Deke Dickerson model guitars, which were a remake of the AP-6 pickups. Such guitars with these specific pickups have never been in the CIS before, so you have a real chance to own a unique, rare instrument that can not only be kept in a collection but also played, as it sounds very good! Punchy highs, delicious mids, and moderately saturated lows. Good attack and sustain. The neck of the guitar is in wonderful condition, fret wear is even - there is still plenty of life in them! The spruce top has a characteristic - like on all similar guitars - visible lacquer cracks, but there are no breaks or anything else. The Bigsby works perfectly in both directions, and the tuners hold the tuning rock-solid. The case seems to be original - white trim on the sides, black on the top and bottom, looks quite vintage.
