The bass was made in Japan, while the newer Marcus Miller Jazz Bass models are already being made in Mexico. The bass is in wonderful condition, see photos, and comes with a high-quality semi-rigid SKB case. I love these cases; they have a solid core, like any hard case, but they are covered with canvas on the outside and insulated. Such a case, while perfectly protecting the instrument, will not crack or burst (like wood or plastic) upon impact.
