It has nothing in common with the Studio of the 80s, just as it has nothing in common with the Gibson model ))) no, this is not a cheap guitar, and it's not a stripped-down version! It is a separate model in the PRS lineup, which they produce to this day. It was specifically on this model that they began testing the new V12 finish after the 2010 Experience gathering. Of course, they added the famous 57/08 pickups and Narrowfield mini-humbuckers to the guitar. As on the McCarty and 305 — the PRS Studio body thickness is increased to 52 mm, but the total weight of the guitar remains at 8 pounds (3.6 kg) — perfect! Let's move on to the sound... Everyone who has played a 57/08 knows that this sound has a rather vintage character — it is quite transparent with good attack and a punchy midrange — a kind of ideal for those playing rock and blues. The Narrowfields complement the bridge pickup and make the guitar more versatile. This is significantly better and more powerful than single-coils; I would say that on mahogany they resemble the sound of a P-90, with a bit of a jazz flavor like on a Gibson ES-330... turn down the volume and tone — and you get a Strat! You can also compare them to the mini-humbuckers on vintage Gibson Les Paul Deluxe models; there are common notes... by and large, in terms of sound, the guitar is similar to vintage Gibsons from the late 50s; the more you turn the knobs and play different melodies, the more you hear it with your own ears. On the guitar, besides the 5-way switch for the 3 pickups, there is also a push-pull on the tone — coil splits, which also makes the guitar very versatile; you can dial in anything on it. Switching is very convenient! The neck is fantastically comfortable, as is access to all the frets. Regarding the wood — it is very high quality (actually, as with all PRS) — it resonates fantastically, you understand this even without plugging the guitar into an amplifier! The hardware is also, as always, top-notch, the locking tuners hold tuning perfectly, the scale is accurate... nothing to complain about.
