2016 PRS McCarty 594 Artist Package Dark Cherry Sunburst Ebony FB NEW ABSOLUTELY BRAND NEW from the Paul Reed Smith factory - the newest model, launched into production only in the summer of 2016 - PRS McCarty 594 with custom Artist Package options (Artist Grade Gaboon Ebony Fretboard, Artist Grade Flame Maple Top Private Stock Quality, Select Mahogany Back and Neck Wood, Green Abalone Center Artist Bird Inlays, Gaboon Ebony Headstock Veneer with Inlaid Green Abalone Signature, Hybrid Hardware, Artist Hardcase). It is no secret to anyone that a new guitar in the USA costs 5200 minimum, and selling it for 5.5 already HERE is a total fairytale! The guitar is new, in the factory box, with all documents, artist case, etc., etc.... Considering that our stores are unlikely to bring in even a serial 594 for at least the next couple of years, an ARTIST model is absolutely chic! Now to the point... The first time this model appeared was in the monthly issue of PRS Private Stock 20th Anniversary Guitar of The Month - the PRS Private Stock McCarty 594 was the February issue, all produced guitars were sold within 24 hours. A little later, PRS decided to add the PRS McCarty 594 model to their product line as a serial model, however, in the lineup, this turned out to be almost the most expensive model to date. Presale for dealers started on May 24th and at the beginning of the summer the model was already being shipped from the factory to dealers. A little later, they added custom Artist Package options and Wood Library (when purchasing 10 pieces at once) to the model. I became one of the lucky dealers and snatched up this gorgeous 2016 PRS McCarty 594 Artist Package Dark Cherry Sunburst. This guitar was born on August 9th, 2016, the guitar is not even a month old now. It is interesting that this is the first PRS model that the manufacturers themselves presented in all colors, providing photo, video, and even audio (!) reviews! They can be viewed on the official website on the model page - http://www.prsguitars.com/594/ The PRS McCarty 594 is primarily focused on a vintage sound and vintage appearance; if you want modern, look at other PRS models. Yes, this PRS certainly has its own updated sound, but it is primarily focused on people who love the vintage old sound of the 50s, only without the hum, the wooden-ness in comfort, etc. It is the old sound wrapped like candy in the best wood, the best tops, hardware, etc. It immediately feels at home in your hands with a recognizable sound. Moreover, the guitar has coil-taps for single-coil sound (push-pull on the tone), 2 volume and 2 tone controls like a LP, as well as a 3-way toggle switch on the upper bout. Everything in this guitar is made so that you buy it and just get hooked on it for life, without selling it to anyone, because it is truly a masterful and universal guitar, and also beautiful and comfortable. What is so new about it? I will name at least 10 of the most important factors that distinguish it from other models: 1) Scale length 24.594” - something between SC and the 25-inch PRS scale, still just as comfortable. 2) 58/15 LT pickups. LT stands for Low Turn, which gives the guitar a soft, transparent tone. 3) 2 tone + 2 volume controls provide maximum convenience for adjusting the volume and tone of the two pickups separately. 4) The 3-way toggle switch moved to the upper bout (like on an LP) - for those who are used to the LP switch on top but want a superstrat-shaped guitar. 5) Push-pull on the tone - creates coil-taps for single-coil sound from the humbuckers, which makes the guitar very versatile in sound. 6) New Pattern Vintage neck carve profile has the same width as the Pattern Regular, but it is thicker from front to back, it is asymmetrically designed - less massive on the thin string side, meatier on the bass side. By feel, this is the thickest PRS neck to date, and also, as a logical consequence, this neck has the greatest sustain. You won't be doing much shredding on this guitar, but carving out fat notes... that's exactly what it's for. As a lover of thick necks, I declare this to be one of my favorites to date! This is truly a neck with "balls"! 7) Updated Phase III Locking tuners - specifically, adjustment bolts for the tuner tension and "glide" have been added. 8) Tune-O-Matic (TOM) + Bridge - like on LP and SC58. 9) Binding on the neck (white edge). 10) A new color palette has been added, and now even more beautiful colors are available, such as this Dark Cherry Sunburst. The birds are made of beautiful natural abalone. And micro-hardware with gold and nickel, perfectly matching this sunburst color of the guitar. And the case is like the Private Stock, only with a black design, inside the case is like vintage Fender and Gibson, blue, made of the same fabric. One case alone would probably cost about 500 bucks ))) In general, the approach to this guitar and the Artist Package is simply the most serious. Everything is perfect! Regarding the sound, I will say that the guitar is saturated with deep overtones, despite the ebony fretboard, there is no glass and clinking on the humbuckers (it appears only on the coil-taps), it wafts with fat mids and lows. The sound is very transparent, clear, collected, you can hear every note even when playing a simple chord. The sustain is just insane! When coil-tapped on clean, you can achieve an aggressive attack, the beautiful funky strumming will not leave you indifferent! Both pickups have no muddiness, they have "balls", especially they manifest when playing into Mesa Boogie amplifiers. In a mix with these monsters, these guitars open up completely in all spectrums. The guitar also sounds rocking through a Marshall AFD100. At least I played through these two amplifiers and each opened up the guitar in its own interesting way, which means it has its own charm. In general, 58/15 are currently the most transparent and collected pickups from PRS, they can only be compared with 57/08 and 59/09, but 58/15 are still more transparent. The switch on the upper bout is very convenient for me, and I also like the coil-taps of the humbuckers to single-coils, 2 volume and tone knobs, at concerts it saves a lot if the amplifier is 1-channel. Rolled off the neck volume - and you already have a clean sound, clicked down to the bridge - distortion. And of course, access to the high frets is as always very convenient.
