2018 PRS Silver Sky John Mayer Signature Horizon NEW The PRS Silver Sky is the result of a close collaboration between Grammy Award-winning musician John Mayer and Paul Reed Smith. The process of creating the Silver Sky took over two and a half years - this instrument is the result of a known type of strat combined with the quality and beauty of PRS. This model was based on Mayer and Smith's favorite elements from vintage 1963 and 1964 instruments, which led to an idealized version of a vintage guitar with single-coils. The attention paid to every detail sets this guitar apart from all others. Some of the most distinctive characteristics include the headstock shape, tuners, neck and fretboard, bridge, pickups and electronics. The headstock is based on the PRS trademark design, but inverted, characterizing Mayer's playing style and maintaining consistent string length at the nut, which simplifies tuning. The tuners are traditional vintage-style (tulip-shaped like on old closed-type PRS McCarty guitars, but also locking!).
