Mesa Boogie Rectifier 4×12 1988 The Mesa Boogie Rectifier cabinet was made in 1988, which has quite recently been completely restored and professionally recovered in red leather + new corners and feet, meaning visually the cabinet is 100% new. The 80s gave the world some of the best Mesa Boogie amplifiers — Mark III, Rectifier, and of course the Studio 22, which Kurt Cobain played and recorded with. Their cabinets of that period are no exception. In particular, the original Rectifier cabinet from the late 80s (which is what is being offered) was equipped with 4 speakers, specifically in pairs — two were in the closed section of the cabinet (for tightness), and two were in the open one, for volume and width of sound. That is exactly how it is — this cabinet, in addition to the standard tightness of sound for Mesa, also provides incredible volume and space in the sound, thanks to the slanted design, as well as the open section of the two top speakers (visible in the photo from the back). The speakers themselves are a pair of Vintage Black Shadow at the bottom, and a pair of standard, brighter modern Black Shadow at the top. These are the exact same speakers that are installed in Mark IV, Mark V combos, plus the semi-open design gives exactly the same sound as a Mark V combo + the tightness that is present in modern closed Rectifier cabinets. In general, the volume of sound of this cabinet is SIMPLY UNREAL. You get the best combination that could possibly exist — old wood, but a completely new-looking cabinet. One closed section provides tightness, the second, open one — volume. Moreover, Black Shadow speakers provide the signature Mesa sound; these exact speakers have been used since the 80s, and are still installed on the MOST expensive Mesa Boogie models to this day.
