2013 PRS P22 Trem Makena Blue One Piece Top NEW The PRS P22 Trem model was released for the first time in 2013; prior to that, there were P22 and P24 models with a fixed bridge. To this day, I consider this model to be the most diverse in sound and the most successful in the entire PRS lineup. I have already handled and sold over a dozen of these PRS guitars, and all of them were wonderful! Perfect shapes, open-type tuners, nickel hardware, the smell of a new guitar... it is simply mesmerizing! What is worth noting is a great rarity - A ONE-PIECE TOP!!! This is an extremely rare thing; my custom has the same, for those who know. The guitar is more functional than any other, of course, due to the piezo, two outputs, and the added tremolo system with 22 frets. No matter how you look at it, this is the MOST VERSATILE guitar today. As on the P24, there are 2 separate outputs here – piezo and mix; you can play through both at the same time, just as you can record. A 5-way selector, tone, volume, a knob for blending the piezo with the pickups, and actually a 3-way switch for the piezo – at the top is only piezo, in the center is a mix of pickups and piezo, at the bottom is only pickups. Moreover, you can even use the piezo mix simultaneously with the 5-way selector, for example, by blending 50% piezo sound with 50% split-coil on the neck! This is brilliant in general. The tremolo itself also distinguishes it with greater versatility. Those who love to work with the whammy bar, and I know many such people, will be very happy about this. For those who haven't read about the P22 – I described the piezo above, it is the same LR Baggs; when recording directly into a sound card from the piezo output – you simply won't be able to distinguish the sound from a recorded acoustic guitar – that is the phenomenon – it is not for nothing that the model was in development for 10 years. The sound of the pickups themselves – the mids and highs I would say are on par, the lows are slightly lower. Quite a meaty sound on distortion; on clean, softness can be achieved in the neck position. The instrument sounds quite confident, characterful, and every note is readable on any sound, even with the tone rolled off; it is quite modern in terms of sound. In conclusion, I will say that it is an ideal option for a guitarist looking for 22 frets with a tremolo and piezo, as this is a fairly rare combination (usually 22 frets with a fixed bridge).
