1979 Gibson Les Paul Custom Wine Red All Original I bought this guitar from an American collector who owns over 50 guitars, including pre-war models. A very interesting person, formerly involved in work with Russians concerning rockets, but now a retired American. This guitar was one of his favorites; he kept a couple of acoustics for himself and sold the Custom to me. Everything in it is original down to the screw, excellent condition both externally and internally. The frets are also in excellent condition, the guitar has been preserved incredibly well! Regarding the sound: it reminded me of my 1977 Gibson Les Paul Standard, only it has slightly more sharpness and highs, probably due to the ebony fretboard. It sounds quite meaty; it is ideal for classic hard rock. There is composure in every note; when rolling off the tone, the guitar sounds without losing its character and the necessary frequencies. When you roll off the neck pickup on overdrive, the gain goes away and the guitar sounds warm and clean; I grew very fond of this specific sound back on my Standard - you get something between clean and crunch, and you can always smoothly roll up the gain and switch to a meaty sound. This is very convenient when, for example, you don't have a footswitch or you have a single-channel amplifier, like Slash. The sustain is insane... The sound is hooligan-like, as it should be for a good Gibson) with a bit of hoarseness and quack. Ergonomics: the guitar has no cavities, holes, etc., it is just a pure piece of wood, which, of course, gives it such long sustain. The maple neck, which, by the way, was made for only about 6 years on the LPC, is quite strong, and it is precisely this one that is not at risk of having a broken headstock, it is also made with a volute))) The neck itself is quite thin, something between the modern Gibson 60s and 59s neck profile. Appearance: since the guitar has been preserved in ideal condition, it looks very beautiful, and at the same time there is nothing superfluous, everything is strict and corresponds in appearance to its hooligan sound)) Now let's move on to the specifications: Body: mahogany (1 piece, no holes or cavities) with a maple top Neck: maple (3 pieces), neck profile is something between 59 and 60 Fretboard: ebony, 22 frets Inlay: mother-of-pearl rectangles Scale: 24.75 Tuners: Gibson Pickups: original Gibson PAT NO.
