2017 Fender Custom Shop Masterbuilt Jason Smith 1963 Telecaster Custom Journeyman Relic Chocolate 3-Tone Sunburst C3TS MBJS 63 TV Jones Collector's guitar. The highest degree of guitar craftsmanship from Fender Custom Shop by one of the best and long-standing masters Jason Smith - the son of legendary master Dan Smith. The guitar was made by him from start to finish. This is a modern reissue of a 1963 guitar in every detail. It is as if you currently have a 63-year guitar in your hands, only in perfect condition with original frets and perfectly functioning electronics. Jason is a veteran of the Custom Shop; he grew up at the Fender factory: 'It was always in my family, and I was always extremely interested in everything my father did.' Smith was born in Rochester, New York, and grew up in California. He recalls meeting great guitarists from about the age of five when his father worked with Fender - Eric Clapton, Yngwie Malmsteen, Jeff Beck, and Robben Ford, to name a few. He went to his first big rock concert at the age of six - Rush - and Smith recalls being backstage with his father and meeting Geddy Lee after the performance. Even before he was a teenager, Smith had seen Pink Floyd, ZZ Top, and many other major artists. Rock music and Fender are part of his DNA. Smith joined the Fender Custom Shop in 1995, and in 2006, he completed a five-year apprenticeship with renowned senior master builder John English.
