Taylor DN4 Ovangkol Limited (Made in USA) Taylor DN4 Ovangkol Limited (Made in USA) Taylor DN4 (previously called Taylor 410) is one of the newer models, featuring the new series labeling - DN stands for Dreadnought shape and the digit 4 is the 400 series. The guitar is made in the USA and is made entirely of solid wood. Even for American, and even for expensive American guitars, solid wood is by no means always a mandatory attribute, while the difference in sound is truly noticeable. In this instrument, Taylor did not skimp on anything; the sides, back, and neck, absolutely everything is made of solid wood. The sides and back are made of ovangkol (an exotic African wood), the neck is mahogany, with an ebony fretboard, just like the bridge. The top is made of solid spruce, which, given the depth of ovangkol and mahogany, also adds much-needed brightness and clarity to the guitar. With an official manufacturer's price for this model of $1798 and the lowest price in American stores at $1399, with the level of quality and materials you get, this is a very attractive option. My price is even more pleasant. The instrument is incredibly well-balanced in sound across the entire frequency spectrum, nothing "shoots out" or "gets lost", every chord is full and rich, with rich, singing overtones. The guitar has also been professionally fitted with an LR Baggs Element pickup system ($130 + installation). This system, when installed correctly, does not require any changes to the guitar body, no cutouts or anything like that. The preamp itself is hidden under the top, the battery is also mounted inside the instrument, and the system is completely invisible to the eye. The guitar is connected directly to the strap holder at the bottom, and the volume control is mounted right under the soundhole, where it can be easily reached with a finger. Due to the fact that this system does not require cutouts in the body, the guitar has fully retained its sound qualities, while also receiving a wonderful amplified sound when needed. The instrument is in wonderful condition, as can be clearly seen in the photos. There are no cracks, delamination, breaks, etc., there have never been any breakages or repairs, just a couple of small marks (everything is visible in the photos). The instrument is perfectly set up, the neck is straight, the strings are low and there is no buzzing. It comes in its original case with all documents.
