1978 Gibson Les Paul Standard Tobacco Burst Vintage Those who know my personal Les Paul - same one, but a year older, also tobacco on both sides, I have felt through several hundred Les Pauls due to my profession and performances and realized that for me personally there is nothing better than this period, because only in a short segment of the mid-late 70s were standards fitted with a rosewood fretboard. You can read the full story about my 77 LP here - http://forum.guitarplayer.ru/index.php?topic=336012.0 Many people asked me to bring a similar one in stock, because I don't sell mine, and so I brought it) it turned out to be really on par even despite the fact that Seymour Duncan Hot Rodded Humbuckers were installed on this one (the original neck one is included, and the bridge one is an open old-school Seymour Duncan, but in principle I can install any pickups at the client's request). They offered me trades for an R9, etc.... Everyone who listened to the guitar discovered their own sound in it. For example, one person turned the tone to zero on the neck and played me Money For Nothing exactly like the studio recording by Dire Straits. Another – Cinderella. I, of course, Page and Slash. Standards from the 70s with all original parts are a very great rarity and often cost more than customs, and are less often encountered and sold, to my surprise, from 4000-5000 $ even in the USA, and sometimes even more expensive. What else is surprising - the work of the potentiometers - perfectly nothing crackles and smoothly increases tone and volume on both pickups. I, honestly, am in shock at how everything could be preserved so well!!! This is clearly an indicator of high-quality assembly of the instrument, if it still plays and sounds this perfectly in all respects to this day. The tone is very deep. Another thing - when you play through overdrive and need to switch to clean, and there is no footswitch, for example - we use the volume knob and turn it almost to zero. A true Gibson will give a crystal sound with slight looseness. And yes!!! There is a crystal clean even on gain with the volume almost turned down, especially in the neck. The most important thing for me - an LP must have a hooligan, loose, unhinged sound! That is a real Gibby then! We get all this on this LP when playing into ANY equipment, whether it be a Mesa Mark V, Marshall or Soldano or something else. During recording, it sounds just as it does when playing live! With other guitars, you have to mess around, turn knobs... here everything is perfect - just plugged in and went. I never had such a thing where you pick up a guitar and write a song immediately. Now, as soon as I pick up my LP and this one - the notes run by themselves, everything is written easily and effortlessly. You can consider me anyone you like, but I believe that a guitar has its own soul, like a person, it has emotions, mood, and here my inner musical world is completely complemented by the world of this guitar. I don't know, it's impossible to explain it in words. If as an example - you take the guitar, write a solo with a jam and it sounds perfect and all the notes are on point and with soul. This guitar will fill the old-school style for the new owner – classic rock. I don't think it's worth describing the specifications... but there is one important point - the body on this one, unlike mine, is not a sandwich, but ONE PIECE! I.e. it has more sustain. The neck is made of three pieces of maple, as is the top, but the joints are not visible at all, I even thought the top was one-piece, but then I did find the joints under certain light and viewing angle, the pieces are perfectly even - back then Gibson chose wood well, not like now. The guitar is in quite good condition for its age of almost 40 years, look at the photos, there are of course marks, but nothing brutal, the frets on the guitar are original, there is wear but you can still play and play on them, the pickguard is even preserved and the original case is in quite decent condition for 40 years.
