2016 PRS Experience Custom 24-08 Slate Blue 10 Top Limited Edition (1 Of 10) After a rather long break, the Paul Reed Smith company held another PRS Experience exhibition. The exhibition took place on June 3-4, 2016, and the company introduced the 2016 novelties - PRS CE24, PRS McCarty 594, PRS SE Holocomb, as well as other guitars in the SE and S2 series. But perhaps the most important thing at the exhibition was the limited edition of the best-selling PRS model - the PRS Custom 24 in a new version - namely the PRS Custom 24-08. The main difference of the Experience PRS 2016 Custom 24-08 guitar lies in the new electronics scheme, or rather in its switching. The electronics control of the Experience PRS 2016 Custom 24-08 includes a classic 3-way pickup selector and two mini-toggle coil split switches. This is the simplest, most intuitive pickup switching system, which is also present on the PRS 408, PRS Paul's Guitar, and PRS Signature Limited models. It so happened that guitarists loved the pickup switching on the 408 PRS the most, but the 408 pickups cannot provide that "meat" that full-format humbuckers do. The 85/15 Multi-Tap pickups are designed to give the most versatile spectrum of sounds, both on single-coils and humbuckers, which no other PRS provides - the trick is that you can put a single-coil in the neck and a humbucker in the bridge, getting a Fat Strat, or vice versa, a humbucker in the neck and a single-coil in the bridge, getting a vintage Telecaster, or both single-coils - and have a classic Tele, etc. The settings are so flexible and convenient that among custom models, this is the best one, however, there is a downside in that it is not in production; only 50 guitars were issued, 10 in each of different colors, specifically for the PRS Experience 2016 exhibition, and they could only be purchased there. Also, among the "features" of this particular guitar, it is worth noting the Gaboon ebony fretboard with "old school" green abalone bird inlays and a Gaboon ebony headstock veneer with "pre-factory" small eagle inlay (only for Experience PRS limited runs). All the options described above are EXCLUSIVE only to this model, but they can be ordered through Private Stock, although the price would be 10k+. As I have already written, the Experience PRS 2016 Custom 24-08 was issued in 10 pieces in 5 colors for the whole world: Aquamarine, Charcoal, Copperhead Burst, Trampas Green, and Slate Blue.
