2017 PRS SC594 McCarty Singlecut 594 Tri Color Wrap Burst Custom Color NEW This is an ABSOLUTELY NEW guitar from the PRS factory; furthermore, it is the very latest model released by the Paul Reed Smith company and introduced at the end of 2016. Link to the official website - http://www.prsguitars.com/index.php/electrics/core/mccarty_singlecut_594_2017 Many guitarists and collectors have been waiting for PRS to release Gibson-esque editions but with PRS quality; many wanted a bridge design that was not just one piece but two, like on Gibsons - tune-o-matic. PRS previously released the SC58 model, which became the first model with a 2-piece bridge. The new model features the same 2-piece bridge (à la tune-o-matic) as the SC58, but with a 24.594" scale length, like on the MC594 model, which was also introduced slightly earlier in mid-2016. The first SC594 was introduced in early December 2016 in the Private Stock Guitar Of The Month November edition, but it had different wood specifications and, of course, a different price. The guitar is new, in the factory box, with all documents, case, etc., etc.... Considering that our local stores are unlikely to bring in even a standard 594 in the next two years or so, the custom color adds even more to its exclusivity! The PRS SC 594 is primarily focused on a vintage sound with a modern appearance and high-end details; this PRS certainly has its own updated sound, but it is primarily aimed at people who love the vintage old 50s sound, just without the hum, woodenness in playability, etc. It is the old sound wrapped like candy in the best wood, the best tops, hardware, etc. It feels like home in your hands immediately with a recognizable sound. Furthermore, the guitar has coil-taps for single-coils (push-pull on the tone knobs), 2 volume and 2 tone controls like on an LP, and a 3-way toggle switch on the upper bout. A truly masterful and versatile guitar, and also beautiful and comfortable. What is so new about it? I will name at least 10 of the most important factors that distinguish it from other models: 1) 24.594” scale length - something between an SC and a 25-inch PRS scale, just as comfortable. 2) 58/15 LT pickups. LT means Low Turns, which gives the guitar a soft, transparent tone. 3) 2 tone + 2 volume controls provide maximum convenience for adjusting the volume and tone of the two pickups separately. 4) Relocated 3-way toggle switch (like on an LP) - for those accustomed to the LP toggle switch on the upper bout. 5) Push-pull on tone knobs - splits humbuckers into single-coils, which makes the guitar very versatile in sound. 6) New Pattern Vintage neck carve - it has the same width as the Pattern Regular, but it is thicker from front to back, it is asymmetrically designed - less massive on the thin strings side, and meatier on the bass side. The instrument follows the shape of the palm, so it fits into your hands immediately. This is the most comfortable neck I have ever felt, a neck with "balls"! 7) Updated Phase III Locking tuners - specifically, adjustment screws have been added for tuner tension, for their "glide". 8) Tune-O-Matic (TOM) + Bridge - like on an LP and SC58. 9) Binding on the neck (white edge). 10) Old School Birds - old abalone birds like on Prelawsuit models. I have heard the opinion from many musicians that PRS lacks "balls" - this model is proof that the "balls" are twice as big as even vintage Gibsons))) The sound is very transparent, clear, and focused; every note is audible even when just playing a chord on clean. The sustain is just insane! When coil-tapped on clean, you can achieve an aggressive attack, beautiful funky strumming, and it is also worth noting that on the coil-taps, the guitar sounds like a piezo, like an acoustic! Both pickups have no muddiness, there are "balls" on overdrive as well, especially when playing through Mesa Boogie amplifiers. Together with these monsters, these guitars open up completely across all spectrums. The guitar also sounds rocking through a Marshall AFD100. At least I played through these two amplifiers, and each revealed the guitar in its own interesting way, which means it has its own charm. In general, 58/15s are currently the most transparent and focused pickups from PRS; they can only be compared with 57/08 and 59/09, but 58/15s are still more transparent. The toggle switch on the upper bout is very convenient for me, and I am also pleased with the humbucker to single-coil splits, 2 volume and tone knobs; this is a great help at concerts if the amplifier is a 1-channel one. Turn down the neck volume - and you have a clean tone, click down to the bridge - distortion. And of course, access to the high frets is, as always, very convenient. The guitar provides a delicious punch; the response is incredible. If you know what an old Gibson sounds like - throw away the muddiness, nasal tone, hum, and inconvenience - and you get the SC594. This is, of course, a very rough comparison; PRS has its own sound, but I think it is easier to understand this way. As soon as I received the SC594, I specifically recorded a quick comparison at my studio with two decent Gibsons and a Custom 24. Furthermore, for those who also want a Gibson look - welcome - the truest Gibson color - three-color burst!
