Many guitarists and collectors were waiting for a Gibson-style edition from PRS, but with PRS quality; many wanted a bridge design not just as a one-piece - but as two, like Gibsons - tune-o-matic. PRS previously released the SC58 model - which became the first model with a 2-piece bridge. The new model features the same 2-piece bridge (a la tune-o-matic) as the SC58, but with a 24.594" scale length, like the MC594 model, which, by the way, was also introduced slightly earlier in mid-2016. The first SC594 was introduced in early December 2016 in the Private Stock Guitar Of The Month November edition, however, it had different wood specifications and, of course, price. The PRS SC 594 is primarily focused on vintage sound with a modern look and high-end details. This PRS, of course, has its own updated sound, but primarily it is aimed at people who love the vintage old sound of the 50s, only without the hum, the woodiness in comfort, etc. It is the old sound wrapped like a candy in the best wood, the best tops, hardware, etc. It immediately feels at home in the hands with a recognizable sound. Moreover, the guitar has coil-splitting for single-coils (push-pull on tone), 2 volumes and 2 tones like on an LP, as well as a 3-way toggle switch on the upper bout. Truly a masterful and versatile guitar, and also beautiful and comfortable. What is so new about it? I will name at least 10 most important factors that distinguish it from other models: 1) 24.594” scale - something between the SC and the 25-inch PRS scale, still just as comfortable. 2) 58/15 LT pickups. LT stands for low turns, which gives the guitar a soft, transparent tone. 3) 2 tone + 2 volume controls provide maximum convenience for adjusting the volume and tone of the two pickups separately. 4) Relocated 3-way toggle switch (like on an LP) - for those who are used to the LP switch on the upper bout. 5) Push-pull on the tone control - provides coil-splitting for humbuckers, which makes the guitar very versatile in sound. 6) New Pattern Vintage neck carve profile, has the same width as Pattern Regular, but is thicker from front to back, it is designed asymmetrically - less massive on the treble string side, meatier on the bass side. The instrument follows the shape of the palm, so it immediately fits in the hands. This is the most comfortable neck I have felt to date, a neck "with balls"! Dozens of guitars sold with this neck confirm the fact that even if you are used to thin necks, this one fits the hand perfectly!
