Geared for Heavy Metal: Charvel Unveils New Mid-Priced Pro Plus Dinky DK24 Models

Iconic guitar maker Charvel has expanded its high-performance instrument catalog with four new additions to the Pro Plus Dinky DK24 series, targeted straight at the modern heavy metal market.

Three of the new releases arrive in an dual-humbucker HH configuration, complemented by an HSS model designed for players seeking a traditional Stratocaster pickup layout. The HSS version stands out as the sole instrument in the drop featuring Charvel's classic pickup pairing: a Seymour Duncan Full Shred TB-10 humbucker at the bridge combined with Seymour Duncan Custom Flat Strat SSL-6 single-coils in the middle and neck positions.

The dual-humbucker HH models represent a serious step into heavier sonic territory. All three HH builds come armed with a high-output Seymour Duncan Nazgul bridge pickup and a Seymour Duncan Sentient neck pickup—a setup engineered to push past traditional shredding straight into devastating high-gain metal rhythms and leads.

Moving to hardware configurations, the HSS model features a Wilkinson WVS130-2P tremolo bridge. Two of the HH builds come equipped with recessed, double-locking Floyd Rose 1500 Series tremolos built for extreme dive-bombs, while the remaining HH variant incorporates a string-through-body Charvel HT6 hardtail bridge.

The hardtail edition further distinguishes itself with an ash Dinky body, whereas its three sister models are built with basswood bodies. Standardized across all four new releases are 24 stainless steel jumbo frets.

Aesthetic options include classic black and white options—highlighted by the sleek HH FR EB Crimson Eclipse finish—alongside two vibrant colorways for the HSS 2PT QM model: Amber Tiger Eye and the aggressive Zombie Fade finish.

These releases mark the company's first new model rollouts following the passing of founder Wayne Charvel. Although he had not been involved with the firm for decades, Wayne Charvel's legacy as a pioneer of the custom shop revolution and the creation of the Superstrat remains clearly reflected in this latest lineup.
