Kyoto Heritage, Katana Blades, and Matcha Tea: Fender Japan Unveils Exclusive Japan-Inspired Stratocaster Collection

Fender Japan is paying homage to the nation's rich heritage with the launch of the all-new Made in Japan Limited Japan-Inspired Collection Stratocaster. This series captures the spirit of traditional ninjas and matcha tea in equal measure.

The Asian division of the iconic brand Fender has always maintained full creative freedom to push boundaries. From cutting-edge electronic wiring setups to hybrid offset body shapes, their builds have consistently captured global attention. In this latest release, the legendary Stratocaster silhouette is reimagined through a distinct Japanese lens, incorporating themes ranging from the historic city of Kyoto to samurai heritage, matcha culture, and indigo dyeing techniques.

Underneath the unique aesthetic, the instruments adhere to a balanced vintage-modern design framework:

• Alder body construction;

• Maple neck featuring a rosewood fingerboard;

• Traditional 25.5" scale length;

• Two-point synchronized tremolo bridge with vintage-style stamped steel saddles;

• Vintage-style locking tuners.

The electronics, however, take an adventurous approach. Each guitar comes equipped with newly engineered Hybrid II Custom-Voiced single-coil pickups, tuned to deliver vintage warmth alongside modern tonal clarity. A Modern C-profile neck paired with a 9.5" fingerboard radius and medium-jumbo frets ensures contemporary playability.

The visual aesthetics are where these guitars truly shine.

The Kyoto Orange variant features a single-ply gold anodized aluminum pickguard complemented by gold hardware, gold dot inlays, and a matching headstock finish. The Indigo Denim model retains the pickguard configuration but opts for sleek black nickel hardware, while the Matcha Green edition applies a similar design concept paired with classic chrome hardware. Black pickup covers and matching control knobs add a refined touch across the range.

The lineup also introduces the Katana Silver model, designed to evoke the sharpness of Japan's legendary swords. It features a unique silver pickguard reminiscent of a Silver Burst finish, paired with rhombus-shaped acrylic white pearl inlays that mirror the intricate patterns found on traditional sword handles.

Rounding out the series is the stealthy Ninja Black model. Finished with a pitch-black pickguard and matching dark nickel hardware, the guitar maintains an understated look, accented only by white pearl inlays shaped like shurikens that stand out against the dark rosewood fingerboard.
